Hawaiian Cupcakes for a cause
Some time ago I contacted a lovely lady called Debbie, who was running charity auctions on Trade Me and asked her if she would like to auction a voucher for cake or cupcakes. We initially were fundraising for the Weekes family who tragically lost their triplets in the mall fire in Doha. At the request of the Weekes we donated the proceeds to the wellington neonatal trust where the Triplets were born :)
The lady that won the auction asked to add to the intial order and these cupcakes are the end result, Hawaiian cupcakes for a 21st birthday, all 100 of them :)

Bobby Socks and poodle skirts
I was asked to make this cake for a friends mum, who was celebrating her 60th birthday. She provided a picture of a cake by pink cake box which I used for inspiration. I really enjoyed this cake as there were a few firsts in it.... I have never put decorations on wires before and I hand cut all the musical notes
The most challenging part of this cake for me was that the top tier was fruit cake which I do not love baking

Playable Angry Birds Cake
So, I saw online this amazing playable angry birds cake created by a Dad for his son here and decided that since my son and I enjoy playing this game that I would surprise him with one for his 8th birthday.
Here are the photos of what was a very fun cake to make, it took somewhere between 10 and 12 hours in total to put together everything including the board and slingshot. All the components were kept hidden until cake time at his birthday party. His face when he saw the cake was priceless!
The best part was when he got to load the birds in to the slingshot and let them rip and try and demolish the piggies :) All the children had a go and seemed to thoroughly enjoy it :)

Wedding Bells
I was asked by a lifelong friend to make her wedding cake, she provided the topper (from Keepsake Bouquets) and the lovely gold pearls.
This was my 2nd wedding cake and only my 3rd tiered cake, I was a little nervous about living up to expectation! I was very happy with the end result though and I think the beautiful Bride and her Groom liked it too :)

Sewing themed cake
I was asked by a friend to make a sewing cake for her Mother in law, she told me the recipients favourite colour was blue and let me have free rein on the design. There were a few firsts in this cake (as always) It was the first time I have used my new extruder which was used to make the thread and also the pins and needles. It is a great tool but a little hard to squeeze the fondant out of! I will try adding more kremelta next time and see how that goes. My favourite part of the entire cake was the tape measure, I just thought it was cute!
